- Back-up a computer in the office. And another. Tell Peluche he needs to get out of the way of our office chairs or we're going to end up pulling out more tail hairs.
- Grab running shoes by the back door and chacos from the closet. Tell Peluche we aren't going for a run or walk at the moment.
- Send newsletter. Fix address list from bounced emails. Grab dog stuff. Tell Peluche we aren't leaving him anywhere and he doesn't need to worry.
- Fill car. Box up copies of sign language resources from survey life to take to Dallas. Really fill car. Tell Peluche he can't get in the car.
- Take Peluche for a bike-run. Leave him at home and tell him we'll be back. Really go for a bike ride.
- Make ice cream. Eat ice cream. Tell Peluche he can't have the ice cream.
- Go to bed, looking forward to our last full night's sleep at home. Say goodnight to Peluche.
5am. Softly whining dog at door. We open the door. More panting and tail wagging. What has gotten into this dog? Our best guess? After a day of watching us pack, he just couldn't handle the excitement. We figure either:
A) He thought we were going on another long day hike and he just couldn't wait to get started, or
B) He thought we were leaving him somewhere for a long stretch of time and he was anxious not to get left behind.
Either way, we didn't miss our target early departure time. Thanks Peluche. Next time, you've really got to get a grip. And it's not okay that, when we are tired at 2pm and drinking Dr. Pepper and coffee to ward off sleepiness, you are snoring in the back seat. But then again - soak it up bud. After that tight turn where the cooler fell on your head, you probably deserve it.
