The Half-Marathon

I forgot to give a little update on our half-marathon from a couple weekends ago so here it is, a bit belated. It was an absolutely perfect day for a run and we had a lot of fun! There were over 3000 runners for the Colfax half-marathon and it took minutes for the hoards to get across the starting line. I had never run with that many people before and it was a fun environment as everyone was enjoying the sunny, cool morning.

We had made a date of it and went down the Saturday before the race to enjoy some Denver sites. Starbucks was having their 50% off Frapuccino deal so we grabbed a Java chip with soy milk and an extra shot of espresso and walked around a super ritzy million-dollar home area of Denver admiring the houses, lawns, and trying to guess how many people actually lived in homes that large and how much houses cost that were for sale before we made it to their front yard advertisements! After our walk ,we went to Gunther Toody's, one of our favorite Colorado restaurants! It's an old diner style restaurant, complete with old car and juke-box inside. We had big juicy hamburgers, sweet potato fries, and shakes and then checked into a hotel just a few minutes from our race site in City Park. The next morning we got up early to head over to get parking, around 5am, and enjoyed the buzz of the place before our race started at 6:45am. Jason did awesome and placed 186th overall! I had a good run too and beat my only other half-marathon time from when I was 21 by over 15 minutes! We were both pretty beat afterward, but not too beat to enjoy all the free goods they handed out, including the barbecue lunch!

After our race, we went back to our hotel, showered, went shopping at an Asian Market, and made it to the 11:55am church service. It was a super 24 hour Denver adventure! :)
