Lake Como, Italy and Prague

We are home safely after an absolutely fabulous vacation in Europe! More anecdotes on that to come, but for now pictures from Cadenabbia (Lake Como), Italy and Prague, Czech Republic! (With Brussels, Paris, and Athens to come in another blog)

Lake Como was one of our favorite spots - we scored a fabulous room directly on the waterfront across from Bellagio and even had some beautiful sunny days!

Lake Como had an awesome paved walkway right along the lake, complete with fun plants and trees!

A rare clear sky moment with beautiful church bells and the Alps

A public park was quiet with more fun places to walk and explore

Check out those knobby trees behind us! They were everywhere...

The view from our balcony: Bellagio and the (pre)Alps!
Prague was our adventure out of western Europe into a city whose architecture was relatively unscathed by World War 2 and which was the home of Kafka! We stayed in a hotel called "Casa Italia" which lessened the culture shift from Italy (just kidding). Prague was fabulous for getting us out of the Euro (it's not yet a member of the EU) and into a former Communist country - the flavor of it all was fun to experience.
Casa Italia in Prague - such a fun atmosphere but the walls were paper thin and the poor neighbor was throwing up all night. Felt sorry for her, and for us for not getting any sleep!

This is one of the first things we saw in the city...quite the welcome to walk down the road toward! Later we realized it was a mystery murder theater!

I could not get enough of the stained glass windows in churches all over Europe! Beautiful.

View of Prague

We got to see the Prague Symphony Orchestra play beautiful music when we found out about a cheap dress-rehearsal open to the public! Definitely one of the highlights of the trip.

After so many airports over so many years, we have definitely collected a list of our favorites and airports to avoid. Prague's airport amazed us and is at the top of the list of best airports EVER! This is in the airport "rest area" - couches and tubs of pillows to sleep before your flight and free wi-fi! This was already after we found a grocery store and a free movie theater!! Go Prague!
